Joel Pelletier Links

Links are part of what makes the Internet so great (What? No advertising?!!!). Here are a few links to sites and artists I find interesting and/or cool for many reasons, some of them noted along with the listing.

  • Courtney Love's open letter to recording artists
OK, here we go then... Courtney has no love for the "music business," and proposes a formal Union for recording artists to collectively bargain for the bare minimum of rights enjoyed by actors, writers, session musicians, blue collar union workers, etc. EVERY musician who has or is planning on recording their music with a record label NEEDS to read this. You can also email your support to Artists@theredceiling.com.
  • Four Miles featuring Len Balasa
You need to hear this! This 40-something singer/songwriter living in the Chicago area has a voice which is a dead ringer for Paul McCartney, and writes very McCartney-esqe pop love songs to boot. I am in contact with him, and we have discussed the possibility of collaboration in the future.
  • Joel Palenychka of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, generously agreed to swap his joelp.org for my joelp.net (which I owned, but did not use), enabling me to convert my joelp.com to .org. His site is now www.joelp.net.
Other sites created by me:
  • the Way Home media is my commercial, business site, featuring my work as a web, graphics and multimedia designer. My client enable me to pay my bills and create my music and art. If you need any of these services, please go to the site, look at my work, and consider calling me for a quote.
  • musicLA.com, WebBands.com
Two sites I created and maintain to give bands and musicians have an inexpensive and ADVERTISING-FREE place to post their music.
The following websites have links to this site, or post/host my music, and I am returning the favor. Email me if you would like to do the same.
  • The Loving Muse encourages indie artists to post links to their songs and websites, and the top-rated songs (based on listens and click-through's to their site) can get a bit of $$ (very nice indeed)
  • MP3.com's joelp page
One of the first "big guys" who helped pull the MP3 genie out of the bottle, hence the beginning of the (eventual) end of the music distribution business as we know it. They're always changing their business model with artists, and I'm not sure how long my listing will continue...
  • The Celebrity Cafe
  • The Orchard
  • mp3.com
  • Virtual Tunes
  • BandGuru.com
